Zurich Airport Guide

Zurich airport, also known as Kloten airport, is the largest international airport in Switzerland. Located 13 kilometres north of Zurich city the airport saw passenger numbers of almost 30 million in 2017. 75% of these passengers were travelling from within Europe with many during the winter months travelling on to Switzerland’s ski resorts.

Construction first began on Zurich airport in 1946 with the first flights landing and taking off shortly after in 1948. There are now three terminals which see 72 airlines flying to 185 destinations daily. Zurich airport is the principal base for Swiss International Airlines who house many of their aeroplanes here and offer well-priced journeys to many international destinations. Other airlines using Zurich airport regularly include EasyJet, British Airways, Lufthansa, Eurowings & FlyBe.

The airport represents many of Switzerland’s best qualities in that it is clean, spacious and well-maintained. There are a good range of facilities, restaurants, bars and shops for a medium sized airport, and everything is laid out in an orderly manner. Unfortunately, as with most of Switzerland, it can be expensive.

Zurich city is one of the world’s biggest financial centres and has many museums and galleries. Zurich airport has direct access to great transport links and the city centre is just 20 minutes away by public transport. In fact, the transport system in Switzerland is one of the most effective in Europe – and can be accessed easily from the airport. Those travelling by road are also well catered for and there are some great Swiss ski resorts such as Villars-sur-Ollon, Verbier & Les Diablerets all easily within a 2 hour transfer from Zurich airport.

"Seamless service"

I’ve used Snowcompare for the last few years. Transfers have always been easy to arrange and even when one transfer fell through due to the supplier double booking, snowcompare arranged an alternative quickly and without prompting. Excellent!

"Never fails"

Used snowcompare four times and each booking, journey and driver has been smooth as planned, punctual and helpful also when wanting to amend one of my routes by adjusting the return collection point. My most recent two drivers from .everyday transfer , got me up to arc 2000 from.geneva airport in record braking.time due to good knowledge of short cuts which avoided heavy traffic

"Good choice"

easy to navigate their web site, I made an error in my booking and they solved it very quickly for me, the communication between Snowcompare and their supplier can be hit and miss, but that is the supplier, not Snowcompare.
